Field work

Tick populations are moving. With that, they are interacting with naive populations of humans and animals. Surveillance allows us to understand where these ticks are going and who might be at risk for new diseases.

International collaboration

Globalization is a huge opportunity for ticks to appear in new territories, bringing new threats. A global surveillance effort is key for a rapid response when diseases emerge in new environments. 

Citizen science

To get a bigger picture of tick-spread patterns, we can rely on the larger community. Involving the public in scientific efforts both gives us access to a wider range of sampling sites and increases scientific literacy.
